Hi there
Picked up a kebab on the way home from Clarity Towers, from the local Kebambulance, (I kid you not!). Woofed it down as soon as we’d fed Erik and Ragnar the cats, (No. Not Doner!) I ate more of the salad than Dave, just cos it’s healthier (and he won’t eat anything that’s been even NEAR cucumber! 
)
It was real soul food. Hot and spicy. And a £9 portion was more than enough for both of us! We know how to live. We don’t eat them often, but tonight we decided to celebrate.
WE DID IT !!!! WE ACTUALLY DID IT!!!
Did what? We put together a real LIVE TV show which streamed on Facebook and YouTube, complete with 4 cameras, Paul as presenter, me as demonstrator, Jim on Cameras and Screenwork, Jilly on Customer care, Grace on online Chat & Customer care, Sue, Pete and Jazz on telephones (Our UK Call centre! ). Then outside the building, we had our brilliant design team supporting and promoting, sharing and marshalling. Absolutely spot on.
And, as they say in the Bible, it was good.
Here we see Paul in full flow, and me pretty much along for the ride!
Over 800 people came to watch, join in and shop. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would have so many viewers. Of course, a few came just to see what was going on. But to be sure, when there are still 650 watching after 2+ hours, those good people were there because they were enjoying what we were doing. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate the support.
It’s all been pushed through and put in place since Friday morning. That’s quite an achievement! And do you know what? I didn’t have to ask a single member of staff to come into work on Sunday to help. They all, and without exception, straight up volunteered. They were all there first thing this morning. Dave too. He drove me in! (Just in case I did a detour and headed for Dover!!) But seriously folks, do you know how good it feels to have that kind of loving support and team spirit? Of course, we’re all in it together. But boy oh boy! Did I truly grasp what Teamwork means today.
See the sign above Paul, that says, LIVE in the Solution ? Dave printed that this morning quickly on his old platen press – the ink was still wet. I do love that guy!!
Of course, there’s room for improvement…
1. The time lag was a bit extreme, which was down to the fact that the system had been on since 8am, so it built up. All we needed to do was shut the system down and reboot.
2. My volume couldn’t be adjusted without rebooting the whole show either, because we were using a new sound/vision mixer.
So here’s my question to you. Do you tell 800+ people you’re just going to switch everything off and then on again, and to come back? Precisely!! Hahahahaha.
We know for next time. But I do think it’s got legs, don’t you? Now it’s time for Z’szzzzzzzzz.
